Recently asked to work on a cream board era FBJ and found that the PCB was heat damaged to the point of being like a brittle biscuit. Either scrap it, new PCB or bit of work to replace with hard wired valve bases. I like a challenge so of course that is the route I went. And the results are good, in fact very good with better heat management and reduced background noise.
It does require some metal work and soldering but the results are worth it.
