If you have an unwanted amp and thinking of taking it to the tip, then please consider donating it for recycling first?
If you have an old amp that is not working properly but you don’t really want to go to the trouble and expense of repairing it, then I may be interested in it for parts recycling or repairing and reselling.
I will take the amp and depending upon condiction and faults either repair and sell it on or strip it for parts that can be recycled. Much kinder than taking it to the tip.
Suitable items include
- Any valve amp,
- transistor based amps,
- Pro audio,
- Effects
- Interesting Home Audio i.e. things with wooden case or pretty displays – Marantz, Pioneer, Sansui, Logitech Squeezebox
Even items that you might think are just old junk can be worth recycling for little parts like knobs, handles etc. So feel free to get in touch with some pictures.
Value estimates
For vintage items and most valve amps there is usually some residual value even when not working. So for valve amps I will pay 10-25% of whatever completed recent ebay auctions indicate the item is worth. This will allow the amp to be sold on with new valves etc. This is assuming that the amp is in reasonable condition and major parts like the transformers and speakers are functioning properly.
