Pinnacle Twin 30

A remake of a Vox AC30. Not much info out there on these other than what is available here. Made in limited numbers, clearly by hand here are some nice pictures and observations

Big spacious chassis with power valves oddly crammed together. Lots of signs of being made bespoke with cheesy angle brackets holding the cabinet together and some of the wiring using low grade screened cable.

The heat damage mod mentioned in the article above seems to be a chain of 6 x 1N4007 rectifier diodes in series with a 68 ohms 10w resistors. This cools the bias slightly compared with the original Vox by around 25%. Essential with the valves that we have available today.

That being said when this amp came out I am guessing that the Vox reissues of Marshall were the only other option and whilst fine they don’t really compare with the more recent hard wired Korg offerings. So I can kind of see the idea here.

Overall nothing to complain about and if you see one for sale definitely worth buying and giving it a go.

Here is an example of the soldering quality.
