Morgan Amps aim to be high end boutique amps born out of a desire for touch sensitive and responsive amps, more that on their website.
A couple of faults I have come across are: cathode cap exploding and the power scaling transistor blowing and some bad solder joints on the heater wiring. Not sure if these cases are just bad luck as the amps in question were quite young and reasonably well looked after since they are living in a studio. However I guess problems happen on all amps, so even the high end builders are not immune.
Because Morgan information is very limited on the web this is an example where one has to trace out the relevant parts of the circuit by hand in order to figure out what is going wrong and how to put it right. This is a time consuming and error prone process but sometimes needs must.
The build quality look pretty good with high end parts used throughout and plenty of space for ventilation. In fact most of the schematic can be derived from just inspecting the board since most of the circuit is nothing that unusual. To the experienced eye it is a fairly typical and simple circuit. The power scaling is where things get more imaginative. This control reduces the HT voltage on the power valves directly allowing for a very nice low volume output. This is fairly common on low power, class-A amps like this as the cathode-bias will adjust itself.
