Vox AC30 Top Boost Removal

1960’s VOX AC30 original chassis in a modern reissue cabinet.  This one had the top boost added some time back but the owner felt it was just a little too brash. So let’s remove and try it without.

It’s quite an easy job to install and remove the top boost as there are just a few wires to worry about.  There is a diagram below.

  1. Hi have non top boost ac30 which is fine but I would like to fit reverb to it . As it doesnt have that cathode follower that the top boost has, I think it may not work to well due to the impedance matching. I was thinking of just putting in a cathode follower first in my circuit .Have you ever seen this done to a vox? I dont care about its vintage value really. Many thanks for reading this

    1. Hi Alan,
I haven’t come across that mod and although I am sure it is possible I would avoid it to keep the amp original and look elsewhere at some of the fantastic reverb / delay pedals that are now available.
